The story of the establishment of the Emirates Arkan Steel Group is closely related to the long-term economic plans and the wise vision of the Abu Dhabi government 20 years ago.
and in 1998; The General Holding Company “Senaat”, as it was previously known, played an active role in supporting the government's efforts to diversify the country's economy. The main objective was the desire to create a well-established steel industry sector that can keep pace with the strategic growth of other commodities that aim to enhance the engineering and construction prosperity of the Emirates. In order to balance the marketing investments of the private sector in Abu Dhabi, Senaat has begun implementing large-scale production operations based on its existing business, the Emirates Iron and Steel Plant, which is located in Abu Dhabi Industrial City.
The Emirates Iron and Steel Factory formed the cornerstone of the first launch of the Emirates Arkan Steel Company. The company's main business of re-manufacturing imported steel bars and producing rebars for the UAE market was not sufficient to keep up with the growing demand for high-quality steel products on the regional and international levels. For this reason, in October 2001, the company operated its first iron-rolling facility and began producing steel in it, marking the beginning of the stage that led to the emergence of Emirates Arkan Steel Company as we know it today.
One of the main achievements that Emirates Arkan Steel is proud of was the operation of the first steel rolling facility. The facility's production capacity, which amounts to 500,000 metric tons annually, played a positive and active role in the renaissance of Abu Dhabi, and in strengthening the presence of the UAE steel sector in general. Since its inception, we have implemented continuous improvement initiatives for the facility, taking measures to raise the standards of its production plans, and introducing extensive technical modifications to improve its capabilities. As a result, the facility's production capacities witnessed a remarkable increase over the years, and its distinguished capabilities in the field of iron manufacturing and smelting contributed to strengthening its presence on the global map as one of the most prominent steel manufacturers in the local and global markets.
In the same period, the Emirates Cement Factory, which was established in 1976 in the city of Al Ain, close to Jebel Hafeet, established its distinguished position as the largest cement plant in the country, providing its products and services throughout Abu Dhabi. In 2006, Arkan launched the project to build Al Ain Cement Factory and construction work started in July 2007. By 2012, initial operations started and then in 2014, the production capacity of the AED 1.3 billion cement plant reached 4 million metric tons of clinker and 5 .7 million metric tons of cement annually. Hence, Arkan’s journey began to become the largest listed company specialized in the cement industry in the region.

Starting from our first start as a steel billet importing company, to being the operator of the only fully integrated steel manufacturing plant in the UAE; Our flexible business model has been a key component of our success. Our business methodology and expansion plans not only added value to our business, but also helped us establish a strong presence in the global steel sector.
The approach we have adopted in the conduct of our business has enabled us to achieve distinction as one of the few and leading local companies in the field of steel and building materials manufacturing, which has a diversified portfolio of products and solutions based on in-depth experience in the sector, including rebar in the form of bars and coils, and wire coils Steel, structural sections, anchor plates and semi-finished products such as steel squares and direct reduced iron as well as various building materials including cement, concrete products, pipes and bags.
The strategic ambitions of the Abu Dhabi government have contributed to the commercial growth and good reputation of Emirates Arkan Steel over the past few years.
