Ahli United Bank Bahrain

The history of the bank dates back to 1941 when the Imperial Bank of Iran was established by a group of British investors. This bank was an extension of other branches in Iraq and Iran. Two years later, the name of the bank was changed to the British Bank of Iran and the Middle East. In the fifties of the twentieth century, and as a result of the strained relations between Britain and Iran, the name of the bank was changed to the British Bank of the Middle East, and in 1971 the bank was nationalized and transferred to the Bank of Kuwait and the Middle East after the enactment of a law banning foreign banks from engaging in banking activities in Kuwait. On the first of April 2010, the bank converted to work according to the Islamic system, and this was accompanied by changing the name of the bank to become Ahli United Bank Converting the bank to the Islamic system The Bank began to initiate the transformation procedures for the Islamic banking system in July 2008 when the General Assembly of the Bank approved the transformation plan. The bank obtained the approval of the Central Bank of Kuwait to carry out this transformation in December 2009. According to the bank's plans, the bank will be changed to Ahli United Bank accompanying the adoption of the Islamic banking system in the second quarter of 2010.
